City of Clermont Wins City Spirit Award
Begun in 2009, the goal of the Florida Municipal Achievement Awards program is to provide cities the opportunity to receive deserved recognition for superior and innovative efforts in three categories: City Spirit Award, Florida Citizenship Award, and Environmental Stewardship Award.
The cities of Clermont, Miami Beach and Largo were announced the 2018 winners of the 10th Annual Florida Municipal Achievement Awards. Each city took the top spot in one of three award categories.
City Spirit Award – City of Clermont
The City Spirit Award recognizes a single, specific citywide effort to successfully address a local need. The City of Clermont’s winning entry, The Oakhurst Project, changed the crime-ridden neighborhood of Oakhurst into a crime-free neighborhood through a citywide effort in which police, residents and volunteers worked together in an effort to beautify the neighborhood, encourage a sense of community and secure a safe, friendly environment.
